Subway Surfers: Top 3 Reasons Why It’s Still the Best Endless Runner Game

If you stayed in the casual games circle for quite some time, you must have already heard about Subway Surfers. You know, that game that lets you play as a juvenile delinquent tagging the walls with graffiti until the security guard comes down chasing you
. While the story sounds simple (it’s a casual game, duh), the gameplay shines the most.
In fact, it still dominates the Endless Runner genre. It all started in 2012 during the Endless Runner craze with the likes of Temple Run and Temple Run Brave coming to play, SS became a formidable competition. Unlike tilting your device to maneuver your character, the latter uses a 3-lane system and quick-acting controls to make awesome moves like the jump-slide or sidestepping.
Even to this day, the game hails as the prime example of how Endless Runner games are done right. Here are top 3 reasons which (we personally think) make it the best in its league.

Highly Responsive Controls

While it’s true that Endless Runner games are somehow redundant, they all differ in controls; some having issues. For example, Sonic Rush has some lag issues that may cause a delay in the movement, Temple Run 2 uses a drag-based control method; while it excels on its own, it can make the player dizzy and some controls like dashing and jumping cannot be combined at the same time. Agent Dash inputs similar controls like SS but the problem conveys when the players find out that the stages are in a linear and fixed position.
However, SS did it right: easy swiping, smooth transitions between jumps and slides and the inclusion of combining all 3 to make ridiculously cool moves.

Wonderful Graphics and Presentation

Indeed, great-looking games come aplenty. Despicable Me: Minion Rush, Kamibun, and Tomb Raider: Relic Run set among the examples for top quality display and sound. But, that does not mean Subway Surfers is indifferent. While the given examples focus on specific demographics, Subway Surfers focuses on people of all ages whether young or old.
The graphics are fantastic, the colors are vibrant, the music is catchy, and the sound design is anything but stellar.

Constant Updates

Few game developers these days continue the support on their IPs. Kiloo, the dev team behind the Subway Surfers, keeps on improving the game even 7 years later! Patches bring upgrades, events keep the game fresh and the consistent stability of the game retains its strong fanbase. Now that’s dedication.

Here at Games.lol, we customized Subway Surfers into a PC port. Experience the best of its genre! Download it here and play the game directly on PC!
