The Battle Cats is always known for its bizarre humor beyond its already-impressive gameplay. Throughout the course of its lifespan, the tower defense game garnered much reputation thanks to its odd comedy to the point where it became popular to the anime community. Thus, PONOS – the dev team of The Battle Cats, managed to do collaborations with highly unlikely anime shows and even real-life personalities. Sure, the canon battle cats look crazy but the limited time event units take the cake for genuinely weird yet hilarious playable characters. Hey, remember that Pen Pineapple Apple Pen meme in 2016? Well, The Battle Cats made sure the guy who performed it find his way into the game. While this felt out of place, the way he moves and the way he looks fit right at home with the rest of the game’s shenanigans.2. Kyubey
Recently, the game released a limited-time Madoka Magica event. Yes, it features all the girls such as Madoka, Homura, Sayaka, Mami, and Kyoko, but Kyubey takes the spotlight here. Not only is it a real cat but there’s just really something in its eyes that sucks your soul just like in the anime…Nevertheless, not only is Kyubey a really helpful unit but it also becomes creepily hilarious when you call on the God Cat and cast the unlimited deploy spell and spam literally tens of Kyubey. And no, the enemies will not turn into magical girls…although maybe they will lose their heads.3. Fate Characters in General
Okay, so Fate may have its own gacha game but to see them alongside the alien felines? Huh, who knew? Anyway, Fate/Stay Night showed up in the 2nd Quarter of 2019 featuring all the popular characters including Emiya, Saber, Rin. Matou, Assassin, Lancer and Gilgamesh. Yeah, they’re not cats but seeing them fight alongside our main cat-acters looks unusually satisfying. Also, Rin is the best girl. Change my mind.4. 473-1
Don’t mind the name. The real gist here is how the unit looks. Seriously, you can’t tell if this unnamed creature is a human in disguise or whatever Japan cooked up. Anyway, you get to unlock him in the Bikkuriman event. Bikkuriman is a popular Lotte wafer snack that had its own anime back in 1987 to 1989. How it landed in The Battle Cats, we’ll never know.5. Thundia
If you thought The Battle Cats was purely about fighting cats, you thought wrong. In fact, you can have some plot here and there. As in, BIG plots; particularly a unit called Thundia. You get to unlock her in the Cyber Academy Galaxy event – yes, as in the anime with the same name. Yup, it’s just full of cute girls here but Thundia? She’s on another level. If you use her on the field, her anime is quite…”unique”. No, seriously.There still counts a lot of odd cats in the game but you should find out yourself. Play The Battle Cats on PC for free!
